The Coalition

Thriving Communities Aotearoa is a cross-sector coalition committed to co-designing solutions that work—especially for those most affected by economic harm. We bring together people with lived and learned experience, alongside providers of essential services, to reimagine systems that are fairer, safer, and more responsive.

We know that no single organisation or sector can do this alone. Alignment is critical if we are to create lasting impact. That’s why we invite business (banks, insurers, telcos, energy and water providers, and their credit agencies) and other relevant stakeholders to join us in building better outcomes for their customers.

Our coalition is guided by five core principles:

Alignment for impact — collaboration across sectors is essential

Local strength, global insight — we leverage community experience and international learning

Evidence for change — we build an impact base through data, case studies, and modelling

Curiosity and respect — we stay open-minded to foster trust and mutual understanding

Lived and learned experience — we value both equally in shaping solutions
